where to go

LOWER EASTYLE SIDE

On my first day after arriving in NYC I made a promise to myself: I’d try to get out of my comfort zone whenever I had the chance to. A few weeks ago I became acquainted with the new ‘hot spot’ of NYC: Lower East Side (LES). The LES (as the locals call it) is the home of street art (some of them famous such as the Anna Wintour vs. Karl Lagerfeld face-off by Bradley Theodore) aside from being  filled with cool bars and restaurants all around. This is the place to go to in NYC if you try to avoid touristy and predictable places when in the city, or if you’re on the look out for new things and original places.

We got brunch at Freemans, a restaurant I had been dying to go, and it was a great experience! They had great food and it was overall affordable – soon I’ll be posting here about my favorite top 10 brunch spots in NYC. On my way there we had a little photos hoot session by the famous L’asso Pizzaria, which had a new graffiti art on its wall, so we were able to capture that exclusively: Jackpot!!

My outfit for the day was an all black look with stylish accessories to make it a little more edgy. As shown in the pictures, a sweater can also be an unexpected item, the surprise factor on the details can change the whole vibe of the black look. So let your creativity run free when getting ready! It’s a good challenge to try to make new styles out of the same items you have, just by accessorizing it differently.

This pair of pants it’s an old one and to ‘recycle’ it I decided to make two cuts (one in each knee) with a regular pair or reason… and voila, ended up with a brand ‘new’ pair of pants!

Hope you all liked the tips and get challenged to have a few make overs of your own!
